Dear TechSoup

Next time one of your major outsourced communications services gets hacked, please don’t:
- Wait a month to notify your users
- Send out the notification email the day before a long holiday weekend
I agree with Allan. That’s pretty weak.
GAH!!!! That’s my new word when ARRGHH! doesn’t cut it any more.
pathetic!
For what it is worth, dozens of GetActive clients that were originally told they were not affected by the hack were informed late the week before Turkey Day that they were indeed victimized. It would appear that Convio brought in external auditors that identified these additional groups. I can’t say that TechSoup was part of this group but a certain organization with which I’m associated fell into that group. All these groups didn’t wait a month - and I seriously doubt that TechSoup waited that long. We were simply enjoying the (ahem…cough cough) pleasures of working with proprietary software.
Thanks for the clarification, Ted. Wow, that is depressing. Glad it wasn’t TechSoup’s fault.
According to a recent email that just went out, TechSoup was part of that group - there were like 62 additional groups that were discovered later on and notified. That is depressing.
