A little tip: when you put too much widget-crap on your blog, nobody can read your blog posts, because your pages take forever to load. Worse, your pages may never load if one of the many widgets can’t load up.

Hi Jon, this is so very true! Nice reminder! Many of the orgs who I help who have problems with their sites loading is due to widget overload, or widgets/feeds in the top of their site (ie - flickr in the header can cause a headache when flickr isn’t playing ball!). My tip - either cut down the overload, or place externally pulled content further down the page/sidebar so at least the main and most important part of the page gets a chance to load first!
